Throughout Black History Month and beyond, we're shining a spotlight on inspiring Black-owned businesses and their founders:
The Social FIXT

Mercedes Benson is an international DJ and founder of the Social FIXT, a business focused on fixing the employment gap for Black & Brown talent in the creative industry. The Social FIXT offer job boards, workshops, and other resources to help POC individuals find their perfect roles.
BlackCreateConnect

BlackCreateConnect was founded by Alicia Richardson, a seasoned recruiter who witnessed firsthand the systemic barriers faced by Black professionals in securing senior roles. Frustrated by the lack of representation and community in the workplace, she established Black Create Connect to bridge this gap. Starting with a simple WhatsApp group of like-minded creatives, the organisation has grown to host regular events and provide a platform for Black professionals to connect, collaborate, and thrive.
UK Black Comms Network

Half of Black Comms and PR professionals in the UK never achieve senior positions. Kamiqua Lake, founder of the UK Black Comms Network, is determined to break this cycle. The network aims to elevate Black PR and communications professionals to senior roles by offering learning opportunities, resources, inspiration, and peer-to-peer networking. The network empowers members to claim their space, and strive to create a more equitable and inclusive industry.
